Whitney Houston hologram to tour the world

A hologram of the late Whitney Houston is to tour the US next year, Hologram USA and Houston’s estate have confirmed.

The hologram tour will give fans a chance to “see a reinvention of one of the most celebrated female artists in history and to continue a legacy of performances that will not be forgotten in years to come,” Pat Houston, the singer’s sister-in-law and president of her estate, said. The show will reportedly open next year at an unconfirmed US location before it tours around the world. Hologram USA has created a number of virtual shows for late legendary performers, including Buddy Holly, Liberace and Billie Holiday.

The company was also behind 2Pac’s holographic performance at Coachella earlier this year.

Speaking about the Whitney Houston virtual experience, Alki David, CEO of Hologram USA, said: “The opportunity to help share her spectacular gigs with the world again is exactly what I hoped for when I built the hologram business.

“We’ve got technology that’s causing seismic shifts in the entertainment industry, and a wonderful partnership with Pat Houston and the estate - I’m confident we’ll create the ultimate celebration of Whitney’s amazing artistry.”

Whitney Houston died on 11 February 2012 at the age of 48 after drowning in a bathtub at the Beverly Hilton hotel. The singer’s death was ruled as accidental, but coroner’s officials cited heart disease and cocaine as contributing factors.

Houston’s daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown, died aged 22 earlier this year in similar circumstances to her mother. She passed away seven months after being found unresponsive in a bath tub at the home she shared with her boyfriend, Nick Gordon.
