Cher denies stories she kidnapped her son Elijah Blue Allman in a bid to get him clean. In an wide-ranging interview with People, the Believe singer spoke about the recent report that she'd hired four men to snatch her son from a New York hotel room, where he was trying to reconcile with wife Marieangela King on their wedding anniversary in November 2022. King's allegations came to light last month in unearthed court documents from a declaration hearing which took place in December. In her chat with People, Cher, 77, shut down the story, calling it "untrue". She went on to say of her relationship with her 47-year-old son with Gregg Allman: “I’m not suffering from any problem that millions of people in the United States aren’t. "I’m a mother. This is my job - one way or another, to try to help my children. You do anything for your children. Whenever you can help them, you just do it because that’s what being a mother is. But it’s joy, even with heartache - mostly, when you think of your children, you just smile and you love them, and you try to be there for them.” In King's testimony, she claimed her mother-in-law was worried about Elijah's health. "On November 30, 2022, the night of our wedding anniversary, four people came to our hotel room and removed (Elijah) from our room. I was told by one of the four men who took him (Elijah’s) mother hired them," she stated.
