Lady Gaga performed live after testing positive for Covid

Lady Gaga has revealed she performed five shows on her 2022 Chromatica Ball tour after testing positive for Covid.

The star attended the Los Angeles premiere of her new concert film Gaga Chromatica Ball on Thursday, and in a Q&A before the screening, she admitted her fear of letting fans down pushed her through the illness.

"I did five shows with Covid," she said, reports Rolling Stone. "I shared it with everyone on my team and I said, 'I don't want anyone to feel uncomfortable at work and you don't have to perform and you don't have to work that day, but I'm going to do the show,' because I just didn't want to let all the fans down."

Gaga constantly felt worried about getting her crew members sick and couldn't help apologising to them backstage while she battled Covid.

"The way that I saw it also is that the fans were all putting themselves in harm's way every day coming to the show," she recalled. "During all my quick changes, I kept going, 'I'm sorry. I'm so sorry.'"

Her admission has divided fans, with some hitting out at the star on social media as they accused Gaga of being "irresponsible" and putting "thousands of people at risk" by knowingly performing when she had Covid.

Gaga also spoke about the new material she has been working on and revealed she has been in the studio "every single day".

The 38-year-old star promised her latest work will be very different from her previous releases and she feels confident fans won't be disappointed.

"I have written so many songs, I've been producing so many songs, and it's nothing like anything that I've ever made before," she said. "I love to break genre and I love to explore music. There's something really beautiful about knowing that you will be loved no matter what you do."

Gaga Chromatica Ball documents the star's show at the Dodgers Stadium in Los Angeles in September 2022.

The HBO concert special will premiere on 25 May.
