LL Cool J and Colman Domingo pay tribute to Quincy Jones

LL Cool J and Colman Domingo have paid tribute to Quincy Jones.

On Monday, it was announced that the music icon, best known for his collaborations with Michael Jackson, had died at his home in Los Angeles on Sunday at the age of 91.

Tributes from the record producer's friends and fans poured in shortly after the sad news was made public.

Taking to Instagram, LL shared that Jones was a father figure to him when he needed one.

"You were a father and example at a time when I truly needed a father and example. Mentor. Role model. King," the rapper and actor wrote. "You gave me opportunities and shared wisdom. Music would not be music without you."

The post concluded, "My condolences to the entire family. I love you. Rest in the sweetest music eternally. #ripquincyjones one of one."

The pair collaborated on several projects, including Jones' 2010 studio album Q: Soul Bossa Nostra and his sitcom In The House, which starred LL and ran from 1995 until 1999.

The rapper also dated Jones' daughter, Kidada Jones, from 1992 to 1994.

Meanwhile, actor Domingo recalled the first time he met the music legend.

"He asked, where are you from? Philly I replied, his eyes twinkled and he talked about the Uptown Theater," he wrote on X. "I was so thrilled to meet Mr. American Music himself. I literally kneeled because he was a King. Thank you Mr. Quincy Jones for giving us all the sound."

Domingo starred in the 2023 remake of The Color Purple, which Jones produced.

Michael Caine, who like Jones was born on 14 March 1933, also took to X to honour his "celestial twin".

"My Celestial twin Quincy was a titan in the musical world," the retired actor wrote. "He was a wonderful and unique human being, lucky to have known him."
