Chris Martin expresses concern for Chappell Roan

Chris Martin has expressed his concern for fellow pop sensation Chappell Roan.

The Coldplay frontman, 47, has offered his thoughts on the Pink Pony Club singer, 26, who confessed earlier this year that she has struggled in the limelight.

In an extensive interview with Rolling Stone, Martin revealed he is thinking of the younger singer who had a slow burn rise to fame - topping charts a year after she released her debut album.

He told the publication, "I hope she's OK... It's hard for the younger ones, especially when they're on their own."

Earlier this year, Roan revealed she was in therapy after her sudden fame sparked depression - and also admitted she had considered suicide while struggling to find fame in the past.

The singer has also drawn attention for snapping at photographers on red carpets and cancelling live performances at the last minute amid her mental health struggles.

Opening up about his own issues with the global spotlight, Martin - who formed Coldplay alongside bassist Guy Berryman, guitarist Jonny Buckland and drummer Will Champion - said, "It's like you start off as a band with three fans and one guy at the bar who thinks you're s**t.

"And then you get to a band with 3,000 fans and 10 guys on the internet who think you're s**t. And then as you become the biggest band in the world, you also become the least popular band in the world."

He added, "You can never escape. You can never win, if you're looking for just winning. The stronger the light, the darker the shadow."
