NewsDecember, 21 Billie Eilish prefers to work on music collaborations separatelyBillie Eilish won't change her method of recording music for any of her collaborators. The Bad Guy singer has always written and recorded music at home or in a studio with her brother and songwriting partner Finneas and she didn't want to change her traditional method when she agreed to feature on the remix of Charli XCX's song Guess. "Finneas and I just sat in the studio and wrote that. It was my dream. My dream collab, aside from whatever Rihanna wants, is not having to have any contact with anybody," she told Complex. "Even if it's somebody I'm super close to. Even people that I love deeply as artists, if we wanted to work together, I'd be like, 'Cool, you go home. I'll make something alone. You make something alone. Then we'll send it and then work on it separately.'" Despite working separately, Billie and Charli managed to put the Guess remix together in under a week, including shooting the music video, and release it days later. It became a big hit in August, topping the singles charts in the U.K. and Australia. They are currently nominated for a Grammy for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for the song. During the interview, Billie explained that the Boom Clap singer suggested a collaboration to Finneas backstage at a concert. "I hadn't even thought of it, but I knew she was doing that (a remix album), and it just came naturally," she recalled. "We got on the phone and talked about which song. Guess was my favourite song from the extended version, and oh my God, I was so excited. We made it in under a week, including the video, and then it came out like three days later. It was awesome."
