Paltrow set to make the Top 40

Gwyneth Paltrow is set to follow her husband into the charts.

The Oscar-winning star - married to Coldplay frontman Chris Martin - looks likely to get two entries in the Top 40 this weekend.

The actress is proving to be a download hit after her appearance on the TV show Glee in which she played stand-in teacher Holly Holliday.

Viewers of E4 saw her perform a handful of tracks with the cast of the show.

Her medley of Rihanna's Umbrella and Singing In The Rain is at number 24, while a cover of Cee-Lo Green's chart-topper Forget You is at 29, according to mid-week sales data from the Official Charts Company.

Another of her performances, Nowadays/Hot Honey Rag, is just outside the top 40 and between them, the three songs have sold more than 10,000 copies.

Adele is on track to retain her position at number one with Someone Like You, the track she played at last week's Brit Awards.

And she is likely to hang on to number one in the album chart with 21, outselling the rest of the top five combined.

She is also likely to take the number three slot with her debut release 19, while the Glee cast album, Volume 4, is on course to be number two.

Official Charts Company managing director Martin Talbot said: "The impact of Gwyneth Paltrow and the continuing Brits effect demonstrates how powerful TV can be in influencing music tastes and interests in the digital world."
