Take That top movie tracks list

Take That have taken top spot in a new survey of the most played movie tracks ever.

Their 2007 number two hit Rule The World featured in Matthew Vaughn's fantasy Stardust.

They were closely followed by Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes' Dirty Dancing anthem (I've Had) The Time of My Life.

Girl group All Saints were third with Pure Shores which featured in The Beach starring Leonardo DiCaprio.

Research by industry rights body PPL included the number of plays on radio and in shops, pubs and clubs.

The top 10 also included two Bee Gees songs from the disco classic Saturday Night Fever and Stealers Wheel's Stuck In The Middle With You which was the soundtrack to a famously grisly scene in Quentin Tarantino's Reservoir Dogs.

PPL's Jonathan Morrish said: "No one disputes the magic of movies and cinema's power to capture audiences with a great story.

"However music and an iconic song can enhance the viewer's experience beyond both words and images which is why film-makers go to such lengths to get the right music for a film. Music can, and does, carry audiences through a movie and make the whole experience truly unforgettable - and, often, one that many people need to go back and experience again."
