Spice Girls split over album idea

The Spice Girls are apparently divided over plans to release an album of unheard tracks.

According to the Daily Mirror, Mel B and Mel C are all for putting out a few of the 60 never-heard-before singles, but Victoria Beckham has opposed the idea.

A source told the newspaper: "From a possible 60 tracks, three or four would be guaranteed number ones and there's definitely a solid album's worth from the songs."

The insider added that it wasn't about the money, saying: "Both Melanies want to open up the band to a new generation of fans and keep the memory of the Spice Girls alive."

Victoria is said to be against the idea because she wants to focus on her successful fashion career, while Geri Halliwell and Emma Bunton also oppose it because band manager Simon Fuller - who is also in charge of their solo careers - believes that the timing is not right.

The back catalogue's release would tie-in with the Spice Girls musical Viva Forever, which opens next year in the West End and is backed by all five stars.
