Ash set for Arthur's Day concert

Downpatrick rockers Ash are to return to Belfast next month.

The band are among the headliners at the Ulster Hall as part of a string of live performances across Ireland. There are also events in Dublin, Cork and Limerick.

Ash have supported U2 and are best known for songs including Girl From Mars.

Also in the line-up are The Enemy, Cashier No 9 and DJ Fresh.

The music is organised by Guinness and marks Arthur's Day on September 22 which was established by Guinness to mark its founder.

The Enemy, an English rock band who have played at the Glastonbury Festival, were recently added to the bill.

"It is an honour to be invited back and bringing Arthur's Day to the people of Belfast. For us, the magic of the day is performing for fans in a local boozer. You cannot beat the atmosphere, the excitement and the surprise that the day brings," a spokesman said.

As well as playing in the studio venues each of the artists will visit a pub for a surprise, intimate performance on the night.

Orla Flanagan, brand manager at Guinness, said: "We are delighted to announce our fantastic additions to the line-up for the Arthur's Day celebrations."

Last year, tickets for some studio venues sold out in seconds. This year's go on sale on Thursday.
