Williams' film premieres in NY fest
Michelle Williams' new film My Week With Marilyn is tipped to receive its world premiere at the New York Film Festival.
Speculation over the upcoming addition to the festival line-up began after a tweet by the Lincoln Center revealed that "[The] centrepiece is, in part, a movie about movies. Based on a forgotten chapter from memoir about young asst aiming to break into biz," without naming the film.
Michelle, who received an Oscar nomination for her performance in Blue Valentine, stars as Hollywood icon Marilyn Monroe in Simon Curtis' biopic, which follows her friendship with Englishman Colin Clark (Eddie Redmayne) and her tempestuous relationship with director-co-star Laurence Olivier (Kenneth Branagh).
Dame Judi Dench plays actress Sybil Thorndike, Julia Ormond is cast as Laurence's wife Vivien Leigh and Dougray Scott as Marilyn's husband Arthur Miller, with appearances by Dominic Cooper, Emma Watson and Derek Jacobi.
The film is based on a diary Colin kept, which was later published in 2002, and offers the behind-the-scenes look at the production of The Prince And The Showgirl.
Roman Polanski's new film Carnage will open the festival, which runs from September 30 to October 16.
