McFly: One Direction song rocks
McFly have revealed they take comparisons to X Factor stars One Direction as a compliment.
The All About You singers, who got their big break in 2004, also said they're impressed with their rival boyband's debut single What Makes You Beautiful.
Drummer Harry Judd told the Daily Star: "They're young, like when we started, so it makes me feel old.
"But it's a compliment to us if people think they sound like early McFly. I wish we had their new single for ourselves - it's fresh."
One Direction - Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne - have also recorded a track penned for them by McFly singer Tom Fletcher since coming third in last year's X Factor.
"They're a really likeable bunch of guys and they've got everything it takes to hit the big time," Tom said.
