Selena cancels gigs for family

Selena Gomez was forced to cancel two concerts at the weekend due to a "family emergency".

The 19-year-old singer and actress had been due to play two Christmas-themed gigs in Chicago and Seattle which were scheduled to take place on Saturday and Sunday.

But Selena cancelled the shows at the last minute to be with her family, according to E! Online.

It has been reported that her mother, Mandy Teefey, 35, suffered a miscarriage.

Selena announced on Twitter last month that her mother and her second husband Brain Teefey were having a baby together.

The starlet - who is dating teen heartthrob Justin Bieber - appeared at Power 106's Cali Christmas 2011 concert in Los Angeles on December 16, but is thought to have returned home immediately after hearing the sad news.
