Minogue's radio career blossoms

Kylie Minogue has turned radio presenter as she recorded a tribute to one of her favourite singers.

The Aussie chart star is hosting an appreciation of jazz legend Blossom Dearie to be broadcast later this week.

She popped along to the BBC Radio 2 studios to record her programme Kylie On Blossom, which will be broadcast on Thursday.

Dearie was a well-known figure on the cabaret circuit of New York, Paris and London in the 1950s and 1960s, and Kylie has often cited her as an influence.

The two singers met shortly before US-born star Dearie died in 2009, at the age of 84.

Kylie said: "I love Blossom's voice. It's that combination of fragility and strength that seems to be a perfect reflection of her personality.

"She may have been petite but she knew how to look after herself.

"Her story's fascinating and I hope that the listeners will be as inspired as I was to discover more about her life and her music."

Her programme is being broadcast by Radio 2 on Thursday at 10pm.
