American Idol boosts Tyler's fame

Steven Tyler has told how he "can't go anywhere" since he joined the American Idol panel.

The Aerosmith rocker's fame has soared since he started judging young hopefuls on the TV talent show last year, and during the Television Critics Association Winter Session in California, he admitted: "It's like, 'Really?... I can't go anywhere any more."

Tyler revealed it has also introduced a younger audience to his band's music.

He said: "[Last season] it wasn't really accepted up front [with the rock community], mostly from my own bandmates because they didn't know what was going on with the Aerosmith thing at the end. But it's brought younger kids to our music anyway."

The singer is returning for season 11 of the hit show later this month, along with fellow judges Randy Jackson and Jennifer Lopez.

J-Lo said fans can expect more of the same from the panel.

"It hasn't changed, we're still the same people. I'm still an emotional person... We're a little bit more comfortable, we're still having fun," she said. "We have amazing talent so that always makes it more exciting."
