Brit Awards comeback for Adele

Adele looks set to make her UK live comeback at the Brit Awards, three months after surgery to cure a voice-threatening condition.

The star underwent an operation in the US in early November after being diagnosed with a vocal cord haemorrhage which could have wrecked her singing voice forever.

But she has now been lined up to perform at next month's awards bash which takes place at the O2 Arena.

It marks a return to the event which kick-started her career, following last year's show-stopping performance of Someone Like You.

She is among the nominees for the high-profile Grammy Awards a week earlier, in the running for six prizes, but has not been named in the first batch of performers announced.

Meanwhile, Blur are to give their first live performance for two and a half years as they reunite for this year's awards.

The band are being honoured with the outstanding contribution to music prize, 21 years after the release of their debut album Leisure.

Blur join acts such as Sir Paul McCartney, U2, Paul Weller and Oasis who have been among previous winners.

Speaking when their outstanding contribution prize was announced last month, frontman Damon Albarn said: "It's great to have recognition for all the work and all the heartache and all the joy that's gone into this band."
