Niall Horan told not to dye hair

One Direction star Niall Horan has been ordered by Simon Cowell not to dye his hair - in case it loses him female fans.

The Irish singer texted the X Factor judge to ask if he could go from blond to black but Simon put paid to plans when he replied to say "no way", The Sun said.

A source was quoted as saying: "Simon still controls a lot about the band down to the finest detail.

"Niall was desperate to get rid of his blond locks and go black just for an experiment, like loads of normal teens.

"Luckily, he had the sense to ask Simon first because he knows how he works."

The Brit-winning boyband - Niall, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson - have been enjoying themselves after becoming the first UK pop group to debut at number one on the US album chart.

Niall said they felt "like the Beatles" after their first release Up All Night rocketed into the top spot on the Billboard chart.
