Bret Michaels calls off engagement

Bret Michaels has split from his fiance after more than 18 years together.

The Poison rocker and Kristi Gibson - who are parents to daughters Raine Elizabeth, 12, and seven-year-old Jorja Bleu - have called off their engagement.

Bret's representative told People.com: "Although the couple have separated they remain great friends and are committed to jointly raising their two daughters."

Bret, 49, and Kristi, 41, had been together on and off for more than 16 years when the rocker finally proposed in December 2010, on the finale of his VH1 reality TV show Bret Michaels: Life As I Know It.

Kristi has supported the Every Rose Has Its Thorns singer through a string of bad health over the years, including an emergency appendectomy, open-heart surgery, a near-fatal brain haemorrhage and a stroke.
