Kylie and Jason: Christmas reunion?

The on-stage reunion of Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan could be resurrected in time for Christmas.

Pop producer and songwriter Pete Waterman had planned to reunite the pair at his outdoor Hit Factory concert, but it was cancelled earlier this month because of safety fears due to heavy rainfall and mud in London's Hyde Park.

The concert was due to feature some of the acts Waterman helped into the charts over the years, including Sonia, Bananarama and Dead Or Alive.

But Pete said the plans had to fit around one of the stars - thought to be either Kylie or Jason - who wants to "go home" in December.

He said: "We are going to do it again at Christmas.

"We are going to do two nights at the 02 or at least one night, we've just got to confirm one artist who is due to go home for Christmas, I'll give you a clue there."

He added: "I just have to convince that artist to stay here until at least Christmas Eve and we can do it all the way we want to."

The original event was a casualty of the weather that brought disruption across the UK. The Hit Factory show - featuring many of the acts producer Waterman catapulted to fame - was due to reunite Kylie and Jason, performing their 1989 chart-topping hit Especially For You.

Along with his production team of Mike Stock and Matt Aitken, Waterman and his PWL record label were responsible for launching dozens of careers, and their pop tracks were almost instantly recognisable.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of PWL, which was Kylie's recording home in the early days of her career.
