Double delight for Rolf Harris

Rolf Harris has received one of Australia's highest honours on the same day he announced a rare stage performance early next year which he "just can't wait" for.

The Australian broadcaster, who was appointed Officer of the Order of Australia in the Queen's Birthday Honours list this year, received his award at the Australian High Commission.

The 82-year-old was recognised for his service to the performing and visual arts, to charitable organisations and to international relations through the promotion of Australian culture.

Speaking after he received his award, Rolf, who was awarded a CBE in 2006, joked about where he would put the medal among his many other awards.

"Trying to find where to put them is my main problem," he said.

Meanwhile, London's Southbank Centre has announced an appearance by Rolf for one night only in the Royal Festival Hall on February 8 next year.

As well as creating a painting live on stage he will perform hits including Tie Me Kangaroo Down, Sport, Two Little Boys and Stairway To Heaven.

Rolf expressed his excitement for the show at the Royal Festival Hall, saying he had no hesitation agreeing to do it.

"I said I'd love to do it because it's such a fantastic building, purpose-built so that everybody can see everything on stage.

"There's no bad seats, they're all perfect and it's a wonderful acoustic place. I just can't wait to do it."
