Walliams: I love One Direction

One Direction have a new biggest fan - funnyman David Walliams.

The Little Britain dad-to-be dressed up as a teenage girl as he joined the band on stage after their performance of Little Things at last night's Royal Variety Performance.

David, who was hosting the star-studded event, tweeted a snap of himself hanging out with the lads backstage and wrote: "I can't believe I met 1D!"

Meanwhile, Harry Styles was also starstruck at the event. He tweeted: "Today, I met The Queen," adding, "amazing night.. Can't believe it."

The pop heartthrob also tweeted a picture of himself backstage with comedian Ronnie Corbett.

Newly-reformed Girls Aloud also took to the stage, in matching sequinned black and gold fishtail dresses, singing their hit single The Promise.

Cheryl Cole told fans on Twitter afterwards: "The Queen is so delicate. She has hair like candy floss and tiny little dancing style shoes .. Awww".

The show, which will be broadcast on ITV1 on December 3 at 7.30pm, also featured a performance from R&B star Alicia Keys, who played piano and sang Brand New Me.

Robbie Williams belted out new single Different and an orchestra-accompanied rendition of swing classic Mr Bojangles.

The show ended with a Bond medley and featured dog act Ashleigh and Pudsey doing a 007 theme.
