Beatles memorabilia up for sale

A collection of Beatles memorabilia owned by George Harrison's family is expected to sell for six figures at auction next month.

It includes a leather jacket he bought during the band's stint in Hamburg which he wore on stage in Germany and at the Cavern Club.

It is expected to sell for around £120,000 at the sale at Bonham's in London on December 12.

Also in the collection, which was given by George to his brother, Harry, and other relatives are a pair of custom-made boots which could sell for around £15,000.

A guitar owned by fellow Beatle Sir Paul McCartney in the 1950s will also be sold with an estimated price of £30,000.

George, who died in 2001, wrote some of the band's most enduring songs including Something and Here Comes The Sun.

He also worked as a film producer, helped back Monty Python's Life Of Brian and through his company Handmade Films was responsible for The Long Good Friday, Time Bandits and Mona Lisa.
