Thicke scores first UK number one

Robin Thicke has scored his first UK number one with the fastest-selling single of the year so far.

Blurred Lines, featuring TI and Pharrell Williams, sold 190,000 copies in its first week on sale to reach the top spot.

Robin's song overtook last week's number one, La La La by Naughty Boy, which was the previous first-week bestseller of 2013.

He told OfficialCharts.Com: "It's an honour and a pleasure to be number one in the UK. It's something I've always dreamed of and I am so grateful to all the people who made this dream come true."

N.E.R.D frontman Pharrell also features in this week's number three, Daft Punk's Get Lucky. Passenger is at number four with Let Her Go, while The Voice judge Jessie J has a new entry at number five with Wild, featuring Big Sean and Dizzee Rascal, the Official Charts Company said.

There are new entries for Jennifer Lopez at number 17 with Live It Up, featuring Pitbull, while south London MC Stylo G is one place behind at 18 with Soundbwoy. Ellie Goulding's Anything Could Happen re-enters the charts at 39.

In the albums chart, Daft Punk are at the top for a second week with Random Access Memories. Veteran singer Rod Stewart remains at number two with Time, while the highest new entry is Laura Marling's Once I Was an Eagle.

Passenger, at number four with All the Little Lights, and Rudimental's Home complete the top five. Girl group Stooshe's debut album London With the Lights On enters the charts at number eight, while there are other new entries for Alice in Chains, with The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here, at 22 and All Hell Breaks Loose by Black Star Riders at 25.

The reissue of Wings' 1976 live album, Wings Over America, also makes a new entry, in at number 36.
