Lorde talks Taylor Swift friendship

Lorde has revealed that she's great friends with Taylor Swift - despite previously criticising the singer.

The two became pals when Taylor sent the New Zealander a bunch of roses after her track Royals reached Number One.

The gesture came as a big surprise, especially as Lorde had once said of the I Knew You Were Trouble singer: "Taylor Swift is so flawless and so unattainable, and I don't think it's breeding anything good in young girls."

Lorde told Rolling Stone that she "was floored" when she got the flowers and that Taylor didn't mind when she found out later what she had said.

"She was like, 'It's fine. If all you've done is call someone perfect, it's not that bad,'" the 17-year-old added.

Lorde told the magazine that she and Taylor, as well as Tavi Gevinson, King Krule, and Jake Bugg, are rare because they sing about the "authentic teenage experience".

She said that despite her success, she still gets "paralysingly nervous" but tries to overcome it with "bravado".

"The way I dress and carry myself, a lot of people find it strange or intimidating. I think my whole career can be boiled down to the one word I always say in meetings: strength."
