Nico and Vinz storm to number one

Singer and songwriting duo Nico and Vinz have stormed to number one - becoming the first entirely Norwegian act in nearly 30 years to top the UK singles chart.

The last all-Norwegian band to claim the coveted title was boyband A-ha, who spent two weeks in the top spot in 1986 with their single The Sun Always Shines On TV.

Nico and Vinz's single Am I Wrong zoomed 51 places to the peak of the Official Singles Chart.

And the Scandinavian duo were delighted they nabbed the top spot. They told OfficialCharts.com: "Wow! Thanks to all our British fans for making Am I Wrong the number one single.

"Growing up in Oslo, we always dreamed of being at the top of the UK chart, so for this now to be true is completely surreal.

"We are extremely grateful to you for making that happen and can't wait to come and play it for you guys live very soon."

Other chart-topping bands such as Abba and Aqua have included Norwegians, but some of the members hailed from elsewhere.

After a week at number one, Magic!'s Rude slips one place to number two, despite clocking up more than a million streams this week.

There is a new entry for Ryan Tedder's OneRepublic at number three with Love Runs Out, while X Factor judge Cheryl Cole's comeback single Crazy Stupid Love slips a further two places to land at number four.

George Ezra's Budapest climbs one place to round off the top five.

Meanwhile Ed Sheeran has once again fought off the competition, spending a sixth week at number one in the albums chart with X.

Sheeran's victory means another week at number two for Glastonbury's show-stealing Dolly Parton and her best-of collection Blue Smoke.

Sam Smith's debut album In The Lonely Hour climbs one place to number three, while Coldplay's Ghost Stories, revealed last month to be the biggest selling album of 2014 so far, climbs two places back up to number four.

George Ezra's Wanted On Voyage is at number five, which means Ezra occupies the fifth spot on both the singles and albums charts this week.
