Ezra Collective on Course for First UK Number One

Ezra Collective are out in front in the race for their first UK Number One album. The jazz group's new record, Here Because of Hope, is their fifth studio release and follows the Mercury Prize they won in 2023. If it holds its position, it will beat their previous best, set when Dance, No One's Watching reached Number 7 on the Official Albums Chart in 2024.

Bloc Party sit at Number 2 in the midweek update with their seventh studio album, Anatomy Of A Brief Romance. Staying there would give the indie rock four-piece their highest chart placing since A Weekend In the City in 2007. The all-British Top 3 is completed by producer and DJ Bonobo, whose Distance in Static is at Number 3. A Friday finish in that spot would make it the best-performing album yet for the Brighton-born musician.

Just outside the top three, RØRY is hoping to build on last year's Top 10 result. Her new project, BLOODLETTING, enters the update at Number 5. London rock band Green Lung, meanwhile, are heading for a Top 40 debut, with their fourth studio album, Necropolitan, currently at Number 7.

Nostalgia is also shaping the wider chart. Oasis have three classic releases on the climb: Time Flies... (1994-2009) at 11, (What's The Story) Morning Glory? at 13 and Definitely Maybe at 25. Punk duo The Meffs are eyeing a first chart entry with Business at 17, while Scottish veterans The Proclaimers are chasing a ninth Top 40 album with You May Offend at 20.

Further down, Jhené Aiko's Westside Whimsy is at Number 37, and Pixies' 1990 album Bossanova could re-enter at Number 39 after a special vinyl remaster. The official positions will be confirmed on Friday.
