Boyzone vow to continue tour as a three-piece as Keith Duffy remains in hospital

Boyzone have vowed to continue the Australian leg of their farewell tour without Keith Duffy after he was hospitalised in Thailand.

As the band performed in Perth, bandmate Shane Lynch announced that Keith had been taken ill.

They performed as a three piece that night, with Mikey Graham and Ronan Keating also on stage, and have announced they'll continue that way for now.

Speaking on stage, Shayne said: "Unfortunately as you can see we are only three, our Keith Duffy is lost in Thailand.

"Just like the good film says, Thailand has got him now."

"He's not well and we don't know exactly what is happening with him at the moment, there are a lot of blood tests and one test and the other tests and he's in the hospital right now, hopefully recovering, fingers crossed.

So just letting you know we are one man down."

Mikey added: "One man down but we are soldiering on, looking forward to putting on a good show tonight here in Perth and looking forward to the rest of the Australia tour and hopefully sooner rather than later Keith will be back with us."

It comes after Ronan said Keith went into a "downward spiral" before being rushed to hospital.

Keith, 44, fell seriously ill before their show in Bangkok on Thursday night, and Ronan says he's been unable to speak with him since the band was forced to head to Australia without him.

We had to leave him in the hospital to get here because we have a show tomorrow night," he told Magic Breakfast.

"He took ill before the show, he just went on a downward spiral."

Ronan, 42, said Keith tried to perform, but doctors ruled him unfit to go on stage.

Boyzone lost bandmate Stephen Gately in 2009 when he died aged 33.
