NewsApril, 19 Liam Payne apologises over 'biphobic' lyrics and says new music will be 'less sexy'Liam Payne has said sorry for the lyrics in his song Both Ways after they were deemed offensive. The 26 year old singer’s single, which was released in December, was accused by many as being ‘biphobic’ and in turn ‘fetishising’ the bisexual community. The raunchy lyrics included lines such as: “Lovin' the way she's turning you on, switching the lanes like a Bugatti Sport. “Nothing but luck that she got me involved, yeah. Flipping that body, go head, I go tails, sharing that body like it's our last meal.” The single then resulted in a slew of criticism as well as the trending Twitter hashtag: #liampayneisoverparty. The father of one has finally opened up about the song and its critical reception in an interview with the Daily Star. He explained: “Honestly, it wasn't a deliberate move [to make sexual songs], it was a very confusing time for me when I was making that album. “I was going through a lot of personal things that I didn't speak about a lot; with song writing, stage fright and being scared of the future.” The star then apologised to those he upset, saying: “I am sorry to anyone who got offended by certain songs or different things on the album, for sure.” “It was never my intention with any of the writing or things I was doing. I was just challenging myself in different areas.” The former One Direction singer then went on explain that he had felt that he had to create songs with sex appeal owing to the fact that his debut single Strip That Down was such a success. He said: “I had writing to do with Strip That Down but I didn't necessarily write the song. After that, a lot of the songs I got sent from then on were all sexually based. “I was pigeonholed into this kind of thing and of course, I am a young guy I am interested in that sort of stuff, I like the idea of the songs and the grooves or certain vibes so I was like 'ok let's go for it’.” Liam has just released a new song featuring Alesso called Midnight and he is adamant it is not the same. He said: “I’d say the new music will be less sexy. I think I passed my time on that one anyway. “Despite photoshoots or whatever else you may see from me I am a lot more chill about things these days.”
