NewsNovember, 14 Loyle Carner says he was pulled over by police because they liked his song: ‘Times are changing lol’Loyle Carner has claimed he was pulled over by the police because they like his music. The Mercury-nominated rapper released a new Madlib-produced track, “Yesterday”, on Wednesday 11 November. On Saturday 14 November, Carner – who is based in London – tweeted: “Just got pulled over by feds. They stopped me, did the window down and said they're feeling the new one. Times are changing lol.” He soon added: “But not changing fast enough.” The Independent has contacted the Met Police for comment. In “Yesterday”, Carner raps about discrimination. He said of the song: “It’s really just about what it is to be black and white, in a world where you pretty much have to be one or the other. It hurts the way I felt about my race back then, is the same way I feel now. Nothing’s changed since my last entry, nothing’s changed since the last century.” Carner’s 2017 debut album, Yesterday’s Gone, was nominated for the Mercury Prize. He went on to release his second album, Not Waving, but Drowning, last year.
