Weather forecast in Sunderland this weekend as Elton John plays at Stadium of Light

Elton John fans in Sunderland will be heading to the Stadium of Light this weekend to see the star as he makes a stop as part of his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour.

The show on Sunday 19 June promises to be a treat for fans with the superstar set to perform some of his greatest hits from his incredible four-decade career. With doors opening at 4:30pm and Elton John taking the stage around 7pm, all eyes are on the Sunderland weather forecast for Sunday evening.

It’s good news for concert-goers - according to the Met Office there may be some light rain on Sunday morning, but luckily this is set to clear up by the afternoon. The weather is set to be cloudy from 4pm onwards, remaining dry for the rest of the evening.

The dry forecast will be a relief for fans with standing tickets, although some may wish to bring something to keep them dry just in case. Only small umbrellas are allowed inside the Stadium of Light, but they advise taking a mac or disposable raincoat so you can continue to enjoy the concert no matter the weather.

A scorching two-day heatwave is forecast to hit the UK on Friday and Saturday, but things are set to cool down by the time Elton John arrives in Sunderland. Temperatures on Sunday will hit highs of 14°, which will feel like 12° from 1pm until the end of the night with a light breeze - a cool day which will no doubt be welcomed by concert-goers packing into the stadium.

For any hay fever sufferers, the pollen levels are forecast to be moderate on Sunday so make sure you take any hay fever remedies before heading to the concert. With the summer solstice just around the corner on Tuesday 21 June, it should be light well into the night and for the duration of the gig.
