NewsJuly, 15 Circa Waves to headline new music festival 'Live at Central' in Newcastle this summerCirca Waves are set to headline a new indie festival in Newcastle city centre this summer. The Indie rock band will perform at the one-day 'Live at Central' festival, held at Time Square's Central Park on Sunday, August 7. Event organisers, 456 Live, have promised audiences a stellar combination of live music, outdoor drinking and street food at the inaugural festival. The event aims to celebrate the indie music that the UK and the North East has to offer. Top of the bill will be veteran indie rockers Circa Waves, who are known for their signature melodic indie rock and high-intensity live shows. The band made up of frontman Kieran Shudall, guitarist Joe Falconer, bassist Sam Rourke and drummer Colin Jones, are set to delight music fans when they take to the stage next month. Formed in Liverpool in 2013, their acclaimed debut single ‘Get Away/Good For Me’ was released that same year, followed by ‘Young Chasers’' in 2015. Their most recent album ‘Sad Happy’ was released in 2020. Joining Circa Waves will be Irish rising stars, The Academic, Scottish trailblazers, Vistas, alternative indie band, The Magic Gang, and indie/folk/afrobeat pioneers Kawala. Liverpool’s The Mysterines and Newcastle’s very own soul-grunge singer Lizzie Esau are also on the bill. Caitlin Maddison, 456 Live promoter, said: "We can’t be happier with the line up for Live at Central which we’re sure is going to put Central Park on the map as the place to go for the best indie and emerging music in the North East. Circa Waves are the perfect headliner for the event which is all about celebrating the amazing indie music that the UK and the North East have to offer.” Central Park is open seven days a week from midday to midnight offering outdoor drinking, entertainment and street food under an expanded covered area that can hold up to 800 people.
