NewsJanuary, 11 Nick Carter files defamation lawsuit against sexual assault accusers for $2,350,000Nick Carter has filed a lawsuit against his sexual assault accusers, asking for damages of over $2million. The Backstreet Boys star is suing six people who accused him of sexual assault, according to documents obtained by The Blast. He has claimed they were trying to “extort” money from him. In 2002, Nick was accused of assaulting a woman named Shannon Ruth when she was 17. Shannon was one of several other people who claimed Nick had abused them at a young age. Nick, now 43, denied all allegations and has claimed the case was a conspiracy. The legal documents state that he wants to clear his name and wants the alleged victims to pay for their accusations. His lawsuit reads: “Ruth and A.R.s’ lawsuits are the culmination of an approximate five-year conspiracy orchestrated by Co-Conspirators to harass, defame, and extort Carter. The campaign was launched and bolstered by the #MeToo movement.” He is demanding damages of $2,350,000 for emotional distress, punitive damages, and attorney’s fees.
