Geri Horner makes awkward blunder in Mel B birthday post

Geri Horner suffered embarrassment when she shared a birthday message for fellow Spice Girls star Mel B.

The singer known as Ginger Spice, 51, took to social media on Wednesday to highlight the fact that Mel had turned 49.

Fans were quick to notice, however, that the message included instructions for Geri's publicist, Premier PR guru Pippa Beng, implying she doesn't upload content herself.

Sharing a trio of images of herself with Mel via Instagram, Geri included a message that began, "Sent images to Pippa and this wording asked her to tweak where needed."

A second paragraph added the birthday message, which read, "Happy Birthday @officialmelb ! Hope you have an amazing day!"

As a result, Geri has been ruthlessly mocked by other social media users, while the message was later updated to remove the first sentence.

The other Spice Girls were on hand to share messages of celebration to mark Mel's birthday, with Victoria Beckham sharing a photo of the group from 1997, writing, "Happy birthday @officialmelb!!! Kisses."

Emma Bunton shared a string of snaps of herself with Mel on her Instagram grid and wrote, "Happy Birthday @officialmelb My Spice sister, one of a kind and special in every way. Love you to bits, Emma and the family."

While Sporty Spice, Mel C, shared a heartfelt message on her own Instagram feed, writing, "Go Scary, it's your birthday! Happy Birthday @officialmelb Melanie Brown MBE, we've shared so many incredible memories, I hope it's not too long until we make some more! So proud of you and all of the incredible work you're doing, love you to bits," and added the hashtag #friendshipneverends.
