Charli XCX will 'not tolerate' her fans shading Taylor Swift

Charli XCX has urged her fans to "stop" yelling hate towards Taylor Swift.

The 360 hitmaker issued the plea on her Instagram Stories after some of her fans yelled, "Taylor is dead" in Portuguese during her PARTYGIRL DJ set at a nightclub in São Paulo, Brazil over the weekend.

"Can the people who do this please stop. Online or at my shows," she wrote alongside a screenshot of video footage. "It is the opposite of what I want and it disturbs me that anyone would think there is room for this in this community. I will not tolerate it."

The pop star's fans criticised Taylor earlier this month for seemingly blocking Charli from topping the U.K. album charts with her release Brat by dropping new digital versions of her record, The Tortured Poets Department, exclusively in the U.K. the same week.

Additionally, it is believed Charli's song, Sympathy is a Knife, is about the pop megastar thanks to the lyrics, "Don't wanna see her backstage at my boyfriend's show/ Fingers crossed behind my back/ I hope they break up quick."

Charli is engaged to George Daniel, the drummer for The 1975, and Taylor briefly dated George's bandmate Matty Healy last year.

The Von Dutch hitmaker previously came under fire from Taylor's fans for saying that she performed to "five-year-olds" when opening for the Shake It Off star on her Reputation Stadium Tour in 2018. She later insisted she meant "absolutely no shade" with the comment.

Despite the fan outrage online, Charli has not spoken negatively about Taylor in public or confirmed she is the subject of Sympathy is a Knife.
