Busta Rhymes had 'emotional' reaction to Hollywood Walk of Fame news

Busta Rhymes had an "emotional" reaction when he found out he would be given a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame next year.

Last month, it was revealed the hip-hop legend will be honoured with a star in 2025 in recognition of his contribution to music.

Recalling his reaction to the news, Busta told Variety, "I'm not gonna lie, it was probably one of the most prestigious moments, one of the most emotional moments, one of the most dream come true moments. It's really one of the things you never think you'll ever get."

The Touch It hitmaker noted that some musicians go their entire careers without receiving any awards or honours.

"There are incredible icons in this world that have never gotten a Grammy, they've never gotten an MTV Award. They've never gotten a Hollywood star. They've never been inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame," he continued. "And they could've lived to be 90 years old and still never got it. They could have been professionally recording for 70 years and still never got it.

"It's just such a profound moment for me, when I still am at a stage in my life where I am on an upswing of business, upswing of creativity, an upswing of happiness and upswing of joy. I'm probably in the best place in my life."

The 52-year-old, real name Trevor Smith, has been nominated for a Grammy 12 times without winning and 16 MTV Video Music Award without taking home a moonperson trophy.

The class of 2025 also includes Keith Urban, Green Day, Prince, Jessica Chastain, Colin Farrell and Jane Fonda, among others.

The date for Busta's star unveiling ceremony has not yet been announced.
