BLACKPINK's Rosé drew upon 'pretty bad' times while writing new songs

BLACKPINK's Rosé has admitted she writes her best songs after experiencing tough times.

During an interview for the Hot Ones series that aired on Thursday, host Sean Evans asked the K-pop star - born Roseanne Park - about the inspiration for the music on her upcoming debut solo album.

While trying an array of chicken wings covered in hot sauces, Rosé explained that she drew on the ups and downs of her personal life while penning the tracks for the project, titled Rosie.

"I don't want to say this, but for me, it's been an experience of like, 'Wow, life has been pretty bad lately.' It's always been the best sessions," she shared with a laugh. "Because I've left all that there, and I end up walking out with a great song. Literally, this album is a representation of my past three or four years and all the raw and honest emotions that I've never talked about before."

Rosé went on to note that she expresses her vulnerable side on the studio record.

"I think that's the beauty of it. That's what I like most about creating, that you can take something not so great (and turn it) into something beautiful," the 27-year-old mused.

Elsewhere in the conversation, Rosé credited performing with BLACKPINK with teaching her a strong work ethic.

"Each one of us, we want such big things for ourselves, and we work so hard every day," she added. "I've never seen someone be like, 'I just want to rest.' Even if we've said that before, I don't think anyone means that."

Rosie is set to be released on 6 December.
