Kanye West 'fails to appear for deposition' over former employee's lawsuit

Kanye West has reportedly failed to appear for a deposition over a case brought against him by a former Yeezy employee.

The Stronger rapper was sued for alleged racial discrimination and unfair practices in April by ex-security guard Benjamin Deshon Provo, who worked for West's Yeezy fashion brand and his Donda Academy school.

According to court documents obtained by The U.S. Sun, lawyers for Provo sent West a notice in early October to sit for a deposition but he didn't show up for the questioning session on 28 October or provide a response or alternative dates.

"It is crucial that Provo's counsel obtain this deposition in a timely manner to ascertain all relevant, pertinent facts in this case to allow Provo to fully prosecute his claims and prepare for trial," the documents read.

His lawyers are now asking for an order to compel the rapper to sit for a deposition. A hearing is set for 11 February in Los Angeles.

"Provo will also move for an order awarding sanctions against Defendants in the amount of $1,760 to compensate Provo for his time and expenses in litigating the instant motion," the filing states.

In his lawsuit, Provo claimed that the Touch the Sky hitmaker "frequently screamed at and berated Black employees" and fired him because he refused to shave off his dreadlocks.

West's team claimed at the time that his actions were "justified" and tried to have the legal action dismissed, however, it is believed the rapper currently has no legal representation.
