NewsAugust, 8 Carnie Wilson reflects on grief after father Brian Wilson's private funeral![]() Carnie Wilson has reflected on the "extremely challenging" time between her father Brian Wilson's death and his funeral. The Beach Boys star passed away on 11 June at the age of 82, and he was laid to rest in a private funeral service earlier this week. In an emotional Instagram post, his daughter, Wilson Phillips singer Carnie, reflected on her "up and down" emotions and how she's been coping in the "extremely challenging" time between his death and the funeral. "It was incredibly difficult to see that happen, but at the same time it gave more closure and more of a feeling of restful peace," she wrote. "The last eight weeks have been extremely challenging and like nothing I've ever experienced. I love and miss him so much and I wish he could come back. "I'm trying to deal with my emotions -they're so up and down. I know that he would want everybody to feel happy and not sad. He didn't like it when I cried." The Hold On singer, 57, added that she was "grateful" that her father left her "so many signs" every day to let her know that "he's around", such as two monarch butterflies that would not leave the site of his funeral. Carnie concluded her post by thanking her father for his music and his fans for supporting him. "Thank you Daddy for your beautiful contribution to so much happiness and real raw emotions that you have brought to people. Thank you to all the beautiful loving and supportive fans out there for honoring him. We share this together. God knows what we'd be without him," she wrote, referencing lyrics from his song God Only Knows. According to his death certificate, the veteran hitmaker died of respiratory arrest as well as sepsis and cystitis and associated factors, including neurodegenerative disorder, obstructive sleep apnea, chronic respiratory failure and chronic kidney disease.
