Leigh-Anne Pinnock 'taking the reins' of her solo career as independent artist

Leigh-Anne Pinnock has taken over the reins of her solo career as an independent artist.

After Little Mix went on hiatus in 2022, Leigh-Anne signed with Warner Records and launched her solo career with singles including Don't Say Love, My Love and Stealin' Love before releasing the EP, No Hard Feelings, last year.

However, she revealed earlier this year that she had parted ways with the record label and become an independent artist, and she released her first independent single, Been a Minute, in July.

In an interview with NME, the singer explained that she took a "step back" from her music career to find the people who saw her vision and could help her launch her "new era".

"At the beginning of my solo career, I felt like I knew what I wanted, but there was too much noise around it," she shared. "There was too much politics, like, 'It has to sound a bit more like this', and I couldn't have the real creative control to do what I wanted. So I think it's evolved by literally just taking the reins myself and saying, 'No, I'm doing it my way' and taking the jump to go independent."

The 33-year-old admitted that while she's enjoyed her new sense of freedom as an independent artist, it's "daunting" being in charge of everything herself.

"You don't have that massive system pumping in money into what you're doing. I'm doing everything myself. It is very different, but it's right. It has to be this way," she shared.

Leigh-Anne also divulged that her debut solo album is almost complete and it's "everything (she) wanted it to be".
