Britney Spears' Instagram account goes missing

Britney Spears appears to have deleted her Instagram account.

The Lucky singer's account, which as of Saturday had the handle @britneyspears, now directs to an error page that notes the profile is no longer available.

"The link may be broken, or the profile may have been removed," the blank page reads, in place of an account that once displayed thousands of posts from more than 12 years of activity.

It is unclear whether Spears personally deleted her account or if the social media platform enacted a suspension or deletion of her account.

The deletion of Spears' account comes after she published several posts in reaction to the publication of a memoir by Kevin Federline, her ex-husband and the father of her two sons.

You Thought You Knew, published in late October, recounts the highs and lows of Federline's relationship with Spears, which lasted from their meeting and marriage in 2004 to their divorce in 2007.

The memoir included multiple salacious allegations, including Federline's contention that Spears took cocaine while breastfeeding their son; that Spears cheated on him with a female dancer; and that she carried a knife into their sons' bedrooms at night.

Spears took exception to these claims via her Instagram account.

"The constant gaslighting from ex-husband is extremely hurtful and exhausting. I have always pleaded and screamed to have a life with my boys... Sadly, they have always witnessed the lack of respect shown by their own father for me," Spears wrote in a post cross-shared to X, where it is still live.

Her last post on X is dated 16 October.
