David Byrne marries Mala Gaonkar

David Byrne has revealed he recently married Mala Gaonkar.

In a profile piece for The New Yorker published this week, the Talking Heads frontman announced that he and the businesswoman tied the knot in September.

"I said I would never get married again, after I got divorced," he shared. "It was just working out really well, so we said, 'Well, let's do this for our friends and family.'"

David didn't share any further details about the wedding.

The musician and hedge fund manager have lived together in New York for some time but it's unclear when they first started dating.

But in August, David divulged his relationship status with Mala, 56, in an interview for The Times by referring to her as his "fiancée".

Discussing his upcoming album, Who Is The Sky?, and the inspiration behind the track, Moisturizing Thing, the singer-songwriter let his news slip.

"My fiancée will sometimes come at me with greasy hands, ready to smear my face. And at one point I thought, 'What if I wake up and really looked younger?'" the 73-year-old explained. "But there's a message, too. About how people judge us by the way we look. You learn a lesson you didn't expect at the start."

Previously, David was married to artist and designer Adelle Lutz between 1987 and 2004. The former couple shares an adult daughter.

Meanwhile, Mala has two sons with her ex-husband Oliver Haarmann.

Since July 2024, businessman Oliver has been romantically linked to Reese Witherspoon.
