Take That kick off Brit Awards

Take That kicked off this year's Brit Awards with a show-stopping performance of their new single Kidz.

All five members of the band took to the stage at the O2 Arena in London, accompanied by an advance guard of dancers dressed like riot police complete with branded shields.

Host James Corden then appeared on stage brandishing one of the new awards designed by Dame Vivienne Westwood before introducing Dizzee Rascal to present the award for British Male Solo Artist to Plan B.

Next on stage was Adele who performed Someone Like You. The next winner to be announced was Tinie Tempah, who was named British breakthrough act.

He was followed by Arcade Fire, who picked up the gong for best international album for The Suburbs. The Canadian outfit's singer Win Butler paid tribute to the English bands that influenced them including New Order, the Clash and David Bowie.

Rihanna then took to the stage, stripping down to a revealing leotard as she performed a medley of her hits. A tearful Jessie J then collected the Critics' Choice award, before Mumford And Sons performed their song Timshel.

Cee Lo Green was named best International Male Solo Artist. The Forget You singer said: "My heart is racing, I'm so excited."

Tinie Tempah's Pass Out was named the best British single, and Arcade Fire were named best international group. Plan B then took to the stage to perform a medley of his hits She Said and Prayin' - complete with dancing riot police and protesters.

Justin Bieber was named international breakthrough act, while Laura Marling won the gong for British female solo artist. The nu-folk star dedicated the award to her mum before Arcade Fire took to the stage to perform Ready To Start.
