Liam Gallagher: No Noel, no Oasis

Liam Gallagher has admitted that Oasis couldn't have carried on without Noel

Liam revealed that, despite saying in interviews that Oasis would continue, the band could not have carried on without his songwriter brother Noel.

In an interview on The Absolute Radio Christian O'Connell Breakfast Show, the former Oasis frontman said: "I just wasn't going away quietly, I was being a bit stubborn... making everyone sweat a little bit, but we knew that Oasis couldn't carry on if Noel wasn't there. It would be weird playing his songs, it would be weird for the fans, plus it would be weird for us".

Oasis, famous for their Britpop anthems and fiery public personas, were together for almost two decades until they split, mid-tour, in August 2009 amid rumours of backstage fighting between brothers Liam and Noel.

According to reports, during the fight, which occurred before the band's show at the Rock En Seine festival in France, Liam had broken one of Noel's guitars. The singer admitted to Absolute that: "There might've been a couple things smashed".

However, despite his fallout with Noel, Liam revealed that he and the remaining members of the band, now called Beady Eye, are excited about playing their new album Different Gear, Still Speeding live and think that their new sound is the most exciting thing in the industry at the moment.

He said: "If you take Beady Eye out of the way, there's not much else going on in the music business."
