Dixon keeps schtum on Mobos role

Mobo chiefs have promised "phenomenal" names for this year's music awards in Glasgow.

Singer Alesha Dixon and event founder Kanya King announced that the Scottish city will host the awards this year, in 2013 and for the 20th anniversary of the event in 2015.

Kanya said: "We can't yet announce who is performing because that's a big surprise later on, but we'll be definitely announcing some phenomenal names".

Asked if she was presenting the awards again this year, Strictly Come Dancing judge Alesha, who hosted last year's awards in Liverpool, said: "I'd love to be there this year but, as anything with the Mobo Awards, nothing can be announced until later. So you have to watch this space."

She added: "The music scene in Glasgow is buzzing. There's a vibrancy and energy to the city which is infectious."

Glasgow staged the show in September 2009 - the first time it was held outside London.

The Mobos, which honour the best music of black origin, will be held at the city's Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SECC) on October 5 and the national arena in Glasgow in 2013.

It is the third year running that the event, launched in 1996, has been held outside London.
