Barat happy to be solo - for now

Carl Barat has admitted he misses the camaraderie of his Libertines bandmates - but is happy going solo for now.

The rocker, who also formed the group Dirty Pretty Things after the Libertines split, is currently going it alone with his own self-titled album.

When asked if he missed having bandmates around him, he said: "Yeah but I'm not going to try and recreate it falsely. I'm sure it will happen again one day but if and when it does, it does. That's how these things happen.

He added: "I do find it a bit easier if I'm honest, doing it like this, but things might change. But right now, I'm happy."

Carl appears in new documentary The Libertines - There Are No Innocent Bystanders, which follows the rockers as they reformed for last year's Reading and Leeds festivals.

The 32-year-old said he hoped the film was as honest a portrayal of the group as it could be.

"It would do a disservice to what the Libertines have done if it were anything but that," he said.

"I saw it as a rough edit. It's hard but if it wasn't a difficult subject I guess people wouldn't care like they do."
