Pizzorno: Fatherhood makes me focus

Serge Pizzorno has revealed how being a dad has made him more focused.

Kasabian's lead songwriter and guitarist, who became a first-time father to son Ennio last August, admitted his new-found paternal responsibilities prompted quicker writing for their new album Velociraptor!

"It focused me in a way in which I was like, 'OK, I've got a few hours, I can go down into the studio'. I had little bits of time and I made them really important and I suppose it helped, that's probably why it was so quick," he told the Independent.

"[Having a baby] balanced everything out. Before he came, I didn't know what was going to happen and I'm sure everyone thought it was lullaby album time, that we'd go really acoustic and it didn't really work out that way."

The 30-year-old added: "It just put everything in its right place."

Serge and the band are set to perform a ten-date tour in arenas to promote Velociraptor!, which is released on September 19, which will be their attempt at chasing superstardom.

"We're the last band left, really. There are not many rock bands left. So it's up to us in a lot of ways," he said.

Bandmate Tom Meighan added: "I hope we keep making records. I want to be here when I'm 40. I just can't give it up."
