Open slot for Kaisers' support act

Kaiser Chiefs have revealed they still haven't found a band to support their UK tour - as money is so tight in the industry.

The band, who have just picked up a gong at the BT Digital Music Awards at Camden's Roundhouse, are embarking on a tour of the UK before setting off around Europe.

But bass player Simon Rix said that, although Tribes were supporting the European leg of the tour, the slot to support them around the UK was "still open".

He said: "No one's really buying that much music any more, so... small bands are not getting that bit of money to help them take that step.

"Getting support bands for us for tours is hard. It used to be that small bands would do that and they couldn't really afford it, but the record company would stick a bit of money in and help them out. That doesn't happen any more so I don't know where the new bands are going to come from."
