Jessie J leads Mobo Awards stars

Top music stars are expected to turn out for an awards ceremony which celebrates music of black origin.

It is just the second time the Mobo Awards have been staged in Scotland and the third year in a row the event has been staged outside London.

Chart-topping star Jessie J leads the field at this year's awards, which honour the best music of black origin, after she was nominated for best newcomer, best UK act, best album, best video and best song.

The Price Tag singer was just ahead of Wretch 32, Adele and Tinie Tempah, who were each shortlisted for four awards.

The awards take place at Glasgow's Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SECC), with US star Jason Derulo and singer Alesha Dixon hosting the event.

Speaking when the nominees were announced in August, Jessie J said: "I am so honoured to be nominated.

"I have watched so many of the artists I look up to being nominated, winning awards and performing - it's amazing to be in the company of such amazing talent."

Adele - who has found global success with her second album 21 - is up against Jessie J for best album, along with Chase & Status, Katy B and Tinie Tempah.

The prize for best song will be fought out between Wretch 32, Adele, Tinie Tempah, Jessie J and Chase & Status.

The awards show will also feature a tribute to Amy Winehouse, led by her goddaughter, Dionne Bromfield.
