Spice Girls said 'final farewell'

The Spice Girls won't reform for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee concert or the 2012 Olympics, Mel C has confirmed.

The singer told ITV1's Lorraine that it felt as though the band's 2007 reunion was their final "farewell".

She said of the London Olympics and the Diamond Jubilee bash: "It's such an incredible opportunity and what a wonderful thing to be able to do.

"And the concert looks like it's going to be out of this world, but unfortunately - bad news for any Spice Girls fans - we don't plan to perform or reform. So I'm sorry to disappoint anybody."

Mel - once known as Sporty Spice - added: "We often have things that we talk about. It was rumoured a lot about the Olympics and then of course the whole Diamond Jubilee thing came up. And it was something that we discussed... but unfortunately it's not going to happen."

She added: "We have to respect each other's wishes. And we reformed in 2007 and we had an amazing time. The show was incredible and that kind of feels like our final farewell. And it would be such a great thing to perform for, but sadly not."

Geri Halliwell recently said it was "exciting" to be offered the Diamond Jubilee bash but that the band had to make a "collective decision".

But it was recently reported that Victoria Beckham had put paid to any plans for a reunion, because she is so busy with her fashion line.

Sir Paul McCartney, Sir Elton John, Sir Tom Jones, Dame Shirley Bassey, Jessie J, JLS and Ed Sheeran will be among the performers at the Diamond Jubilee concert in June.
