Madness to perform on Palace roof

Madness will perform on top of Buckingham Palace during the Diamond Jubilee concert.

The pop veterans, led by frontman Suggs, are expected to play their 1982 hit Our House from the roof during Monday's gig.

Ten years ago Queen guitarist Brian May famously played the National Anthem on the roof of the Palace during the concert marking the Golden Jubilee.

Next week's show is due to feature stars such as Sir Paul McCartney, Will.i.am and Sir Tom Jones and will take place in front of the Palace to crowds gathered around the Mall.

Suggs - real name Graham McPherson - and the rest of the band formed in Camden Town, north London, in the 1970s and enjoyed a string of hits in the 1980s with their ska-tinged pop including House Of Fun, Baggy Trousers and My Girl.

They broke up in 1986 but various members of the band continued to play together and the original line-up have reunited for a series of gigs and new albums.
